The joyous festival of Onam meant dressing up and a happy celebration for little Angad. Last year he had dressed up in a traditional attire for Onam with much joy and excitement. This year however, Angad was dejected when he heard that Onam couldn’t be celebrated, owing to the devastating floods and losses incurred in Kerala.
He understood the reason of no celebrations, but the thought of Kerala and the affected people never left his mind. He decided to do something for helping the victims of flood in Kerala
Angad, with a group of 5 friends, planned to host a fundraiser for Kerala flood victims. One of the friends lent her garage, where all of them arranged chairs and tables for guests to sit and have a discussion. They had snacks counters with food items like sandwiches, bhel, lemonade, cupcakes and also a game of quiz about Kerala, to enhance young minds. Children, being the responsible and graceful hosts, served all the guests the refreshments and also spoke about the cause. The guests were amazed as well as glad with such an initiative being taken by kids at such an early age.
The result being; Angad has an overwhelming response to his event. He and his friends raised a glorious 87000 INR through selling all the snacks and also getting decent donation from the guest, which was donated to the CM relief fund.
Angad, and all other kids who were a part of this, did not just pray for Kerala. Instead they made sure their little hands were of some help to the healing state. There are times as such, where children teach us adults what being a human, actually means.
